No Stone Left Alone for fallen soldiers

Students across the country are learning about Canada’s fallen soldiers as Remembrance Day draws near.

Now, a tradition that started with an Edmonton family is helping young people get close to the sacrifices of those soldiers while being educated by members and veterans of the Canadian Forces.

The No Stone Left Alone Foundation is hosting ceremonies for students on November 10 this year. Local organizer Debbie Persinger says the ceremonies start at 10:30 a.m. at the Burnsland and Union cemeteries.

“So getting the students involved by them placing a poppy on each headstone on all the Fields of Honour across Canada. We hope to get them to respect and honour and understand how we became a free country,” says Persinger.

Close to 5,000 poppies will be laid at soldiers’ headstones in Calgary.
