Some of Calgary’s unsung heroes were honoured on Thursday evening at the Calgary Stampede’s Western Legacy Award ceremony.
Sandra Clarkson, the chair of the Western Legacy Awards Committee, said the awards recognize people who make big impacts on communities and the city as a whole.
Nominations for the 2016 awards are currently open, and anyone living in or around Calgary is eligible for one of the awards.
“The general public submits nominations, and it’s really looking for those people who really make a difference in their community and are always there to lend a helping hand,” Clarkson said.
Here is a list of this year’s winners:
Youth award: Quinn Clark
Innovation award: Brad Fisher
Sustained Contribution Individual award: Chuck Groeneveld
