National Music Centre graced with generous gift

It’s a big boost for the National Music Centre, receiving a gift from the Sam and Betty Switzer Foundation for $500,000.
They’re making the gift in memory of the late Ron Casat, a major force in the Alberta music scene.
As a result, NMC President and CEO Andrew Mosker said third floor exhibition space dedicated to celebrating Canadian songs will be named in Casat’s honour.
“He was a great keyboard player,” Mosker told 660 NEWS. “Ron was always there to support artists and was a great artist in his own right.”
Casat was a member of Calgary’s music scene for over 40 years. He was a member of Amos Garrett’s Eh Team, the Edmonton Folk Music Festival House Band and played alongside Ian Tyson and Tim Williams.
The National Music Centre is slated to open in the summer of 2016.
