High River hosts Santa Claus Parade

It’s still three weeks to Christmas but jolly old Saint Nick is paying an early visit to High River.
The 29th annual Santa Claus Parade is Friday at 6:30 p.m.
Chair of the Rotary Parade Committee, Ted Dawson tells 660 NEWS, they expect up to 10,000 people will line the streets in downtown High River.
“The amazing thing is that over the years, we’ve had people come from as far away as Medicine Hat, Lethbridge in the south and up past Airdrie for the north and lots of folks come from Calgary because Calgary does not have a Santa Claus Parade,” he said.
There’s much more to do besides the parade.
There’s a craft fair at the Highwood Memorial Centre from 2 to 9 p.m.
A Christmas carol sing-a-long starts at 5:15 p.m. at George Lane Memorial Park where thousands of Christmas lights will be turned on just before the parade starts at 6:30 p.m.
