Alberta Health Services has issued a precautionary air quality advisory for the entire town.
Those living or driving near High River should be aware of potential health concerns that can be associated with all of the smoke in the air.
The current air conditions do not normally cause problems for those in good health, but if conditions become more severe, people may experience temporary irritation of eyes and throat and possibly shortness of breath.
Those with existing respiratory and cardiovascular conditions should monitor their symptoms and contact their doctor or Alberta Health Link if they have concerns.
AHS says air quality can vary with weather conditions and prevailing winds.
Information about the air quality in many areas of Alberta is updated regularly on the Alberta Environment and Parks Website. Air quality information is also available by phone, toll-free, at 1-877-247-7333.
