Alleged N.E. carjacking takes a bizarre twist

Charges are pending against a man in his 20’s after he allegedly fabricated a story about his car being stolen so he could hide the fact that he was involved in a hit and run just minutes prior.
At around 6:50 p.m. Monday, Calgary police responded to a hit and run crash in the 3400 block of 38th Street N.E.
About ten minutes later, officers rushed to the 5100 block of Whitestone Way N.E. to investigate a reported carjacking.
Witnesses at the scene of the crash gave a description of the vehicle that took off, and it ended up matching the vehicle that was reported stolen.
Police then brought the man into custody.
No one was injured in the crash.
