While many of us made New Year’s resolutions like getting our finances back in order, we’re being reminded to make sure we’re protecting what we do have.
Leah Brownridge with the Better Business Bureau said if you do any banking or check your accounts on your phone or laptop, always beware of public Wi-Fi.
“They are convenient; however, don’t be doing any kind of financial transactions with those Wi-Fi hotspots. You can’t always be sure that they are secure, so there is a greater risk of your personal and financial information being accessed by other people.”
She added that you should install anti-virus software on your computer, regularly back up your phone and make sure your phone is password protected.
