Crashes piling up as slippery roads get even worse

As southern Alberta road conditions worsen with the snow falling, crashes numbers are increasing.
One trucker called 660 NEWS from the QE-2 Highway as he was coming into Calgary from Lacombe.
“Cars and pick-ups going way too fast especially up a hill, powering up and then they’re just losing the back end and sliding out,” he said.
Many cars are also going into highway ditches, as RCMP Cpl. Sharon Franks said most area highways are in fair to poor condition.
“On my way to work this morning there was a number of vehicles that were still in the ditches as well,” she said. “Hard to tell when those incidents occurred, whether it was through the night or through the morning.”
In Calgary, it’s not much better, as the Calgary Police report From midnight to 11:45 a.m. Thursday, there were eight injury and 65 non-injury crashes, with many have happened in the past couple hours.
