Pair in serious condition following minivan-freight train crash

Two people are in hospital in serious condition following an overnight crash in the southeast.
EMS’ Stuart Brideax tells 660 NEWS, paramedics were called out shortly after midnight.
“EMS responded to the 5900 block of 17th Avenue southeast on reports of a crash involving a freight train and a minivan,” says Brideax.
“This required both patients, a man and a woman, both in their 40’s to be extricated from the vehicle due to the amount of damage.”
They remain in serious condition, but Brideaux says their injuries are otherwise non-life threatening.
The collision is still being investigated.
