Avalanche Canada issues warning for B.C. backcountry

Avalanche Canada has issued a special warning to those planning on hitting the B.C. backcountry.
The warning came on Friday, and will last until January 25th.
The centre said until now, the snowpack has been relatively stable, but conditions are changing rapidly.
Recreational users are advised to exercise more caution over the weekend, stick to low angle terrain and stay below the treeline.
It’s also suggested people heading out should carry a probe and shovel, and wear an avalanche transceiver.
The warning covers a wide area, from the northwest coast, into the Cariboo, Columbia region, the Purcells and into Glacier National Park.
Meanwhile, closer to Calgary, the snow slide risk is considerable in Kananaskis country and Banff.
