Five dead, 2 critically injured in Saskatchewan school shooting: Trudeau

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says five people have been killed and two critically injured in a school shooting in northern Saskatchewan.
Speaking from Davos, Switzerland, Trudeau said the alleged shooter is in custody and the situation is “no longer active.”
But details are still scarce as the RCMP have not provided any information about the mid-day shooting at the La Loche Community School’s high school building.
Trudeau called the shooting every parent’s worst nightmare.
He also released a statement on the incident.
Premier Brad Wall issued a statement expressing shock and sorrow at what he called “the horrific events.”
He also thanked RCMP and emergency personnel who responded quickly.
The school’s junior and senior high school building was put in lockdown around 1 p.m. and Mounties asked parents and residents to stay away.
The Ducharme Elementary School a few blocks away was also locked down as a precaution.
“Saskatchewan Education and Social Services will be available to provide all necessary crisis support and counselling services to the school and the community,” Wall said.
La Loche is a remote Dene community of about 3,000 people on the eastern shore of Lac La Loche in the northern boreal forest.
