Just how low will gas prices go?

Gas prices in Calgary are set to hit lows we haven’t seen in more than 12 years. The price is currently anywhere from 66 to 72 cents a litre here.

Dan McTeague, Senior Petroleum Analyst with gasbuddy.com, said prices will plunge in the next couple of days.

“Dropping anywhere from three to six cents a litre over the next 24 to 48 hours,” he told 660 NEWS. “You could see prices in the Calgary region touching 63 and 64 cents a litre, while Edmonton will be well below the 60 cent mark.”

McTeague added the last time prices were that low in Calgary was December 2003.

He explained one reason is an American build-up of gasoline inventory and while a refinery maintenance period is approaching, he doesn’t expect any change until about Easter.
