A cat has been rescued after a fire in the city’s southeast.
Just before 4:30 a.m., crews were called to a row of townhouses in Queensland.
When they arrived, Battalion Chief Stu Laird says they found smoke coming out of the basement.
“At that time the crews entered the structure, into the basement, and knocked down a fire. And they did remove one cat from that particular building,” he said.
He says two residents in the unit got out on their own thanks to a working smoke alarm.
Neighbouring units were also evacuated as crews quickly knocked down the flames.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation, and nobody was hurt, including the cat.
