Two people charged in separate Calgary robberies

Two people are facing charges in connection with unrelated robberies where people were threatened with knives.

On March 2 at about 4:30 P.M., a man was spotted shoplifting from two stores in the 3800 block of Marlborough Drive northeast.

Just over an hour later, it’s believed the same man wearing the shoplifted items entered a restaurant in the 900 block of 36th Street northeast.

The man demanded money, pulled out a knife, and fled the scene.

20-year-old Brandon Britton Hansle, of Calgary, is charged with three count of theft under $5,000, one count each of robbery, wearing a mask with the intent to commit an offence and being unlawfully at large in connection with this incident.

Then on March 3, in an unrelated series of robberies, a woman wearing a mask walked into a convenience store in the 4000 block of 50th Street southwest at about 1:20 A.M.

Police say she flashed a knife and demanded money.

Later that day, it’s believed the woman robbed two other stores in the same fashion; one in the 4600 block of Bow Trail southwest, the other in the 2900 block of 17th Avenue southwest.

Officers found the suspect minutes later trying to exchange coins for bills inside a fourth convenience store, and arrested her without incident.

34-year-old Cindy Hean Memnook, of Tsuu T’ina, is facing a number of charges, including three counts of robbery, three counts of wearing a mask with the intent to commit an offence, three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of breaching a court order, one count of theft under $5,000, one count of theft of a motor vehicle, and one count of obstruction of justice.
