It’s International Pi Day.
The mathematical symbol 3.14 named for the Greek letter, is used to represent the constant ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter.
Monday is also Einstein’s birthday: he was born in Germany in 1879.
To celebrate International Pi Day, Blaze Pizza at the Sunridge Mall is offering pizzas for $3.14.
Full Circle Pizza and Oyster Bar on 17 Ave SW is also holding a celebration with free Pi, oysters and appetizers, celebrating three months since the restaurant’s opening.
Students at the University of Calgary will also be marking the day, with a charitable twist that will last the whole week.
They can purchase a pie to be thrown in someone’s face, with all proceeds going to the Calgary Urban Project Society.
