Fire ban app launches in Alberta

A new tool on your iPhone wants to help you make the most of your summer outdoors.

The Alberta Fire Bans app is now available to download for free.

Created by Edmonton-based web developers, it promises to tell you where you can enjoy a nice campfire, or where there are bans, restrictions or advisories.

According to Wildfire Alberta, humans caused an average of 1,025 wildfires per year between 2009 and 2014.
