Positive jobs outlook from CFO’s looking forward: Robert Half

Good news for a change regarding the economy.

A new survey finds many Canadian CFO’s have a positive outlook about what the next six months will bring.

The survey, completed by Robert Half International, shows 26 per cent will be adding new positions and 56 per cent will be filling vacancies.

When compared to the one per cent that say they will be eliminating jobs, it’s a huge reversal.

Robert Half District Manager Koula Vasilopoulos, who commissioned the story, said the numbers are not incredibly shocking.

“I think we’re seeing some growth and movement nationally with the manufacturing sector, and there are some industries, in fact, in the Canadian economy, that are doing well. We just don’t always experience it specifically in our own geography.”

She added, they are still seeing companies in need of filling a few good roles.

“We’re talking specifically to CFO’s in the Canadian marketplace about, sort of, what their challenges are and they’re saying it’s still a challenge to find skilled and talented, especially, finance and accounting professionals,” said Vasilopoulos.

The need is so great, that 82 per cent of respondents said they are experiencing recruiting challenges.
