Even though the terror attacks in Belgium took place half a world away, it has forced some tough decisions here as well.
That includes whether school boards will allow overseas trips.
The Calgary Board of Education (CBE) says it will continue to let classes go on international trips, adding there were no trips planned for Belgium this year.
After the Paris attacks last fall, the CBE made the decision to cancel all trips to France, but it is continuing with a slimmed down international travel program, which has seen 20 foreign and domestic trips go ahead.
The board says it currently has one group in Italy and another in China.
Meanwhile, the Calgary Catholic School District has decided to scrap a dozen trips to Europe and the U.S. last December, saying it would review the policy this fall.
That plan hasn’t changed after this incident.
