Two Canadian airlines using caution over volcanic ash cloud

Canada’s two major airlines are keeping an eye on a volcanic ash cloud creating problems in Regina.

WestJet had to cancel a handful of flights Tuesday night, including planes bound for Calgary and Toronto.

A spokesperson tells 660News, they believe the Alaska volcano was emitting ash but it appears to be settling down and they will continue to monitor the cloud in the upper atmosphere.

The airline is strongly advising travellers to double check the status of their flight before heading to the airport.

Air Canada said its operations are normal, but it is closely watching for any movement of the cloud and will adjust its flight paths accordingly.
