Sales still strong at Chinook Centre

The economic downturn hasn’t hurt Calgary’s biggest mall too hard.
A new report by Avison Young ranks Chinook Centre as the sixth most profitable mall in Canada, taking in 1,119 dollars per square foot in 2015.
Toronto’s Yorkdale Shopping Centre was number one, bumping Vancouver’s CF Pacific Centre to second.
Researchers say $4.5-billion worth of retail properties changed hands in 2015, down 31 per cent from the previous year.
Despite weaker performance in Alberta and Saskatchewan, they say retail is still doing fine, continuing to attract new investors, renovate, expand, and upgrade.
