EDMONTON – A witness in a murder trial has testified that he saw Travis Vader driving an SUV similar to one belonging to two missing Alberta seniors.
Myles Ingersoll says he stopped to visit a friend in Peers, a small community west of Edmonton, in early July 2010.
He says Vader — a fellow meth user — was there too and talked about having “heat” on him.
Ingersoll says Vader drove off in a green SUV like the one he later saw in a newspaper story about a missing couple.
Vader is accused of killing Lyle and Marie McCann. The McCanns were both in their 70s and were last seen fuelling up their motorhome in their hometown of St. Albert, just north of Edmonton, before heading to the Fraser VAlley for a family camping trip in July, 2010.
The vehicle was discovered on fire and an SUV they had been towing was discovered in the bush west of Edmonton a few days later. Their bodies have not been found.
