Trio charged with using counterfeit cash

Three Calgarians have been charged with using counterfeit currency in Cochrane.

RCMP received several complaints Thursday from local businesses, and located a suspect vehicle in the parking lot of a Shoppers Drug Mart.

Three people were then arrested, and a search found one counterfeit Canadian $100 bill, several fake $50 bills and three counterfeit American $20 bills.

Mounties also seized a small amount of what’s believed to be methamphetamine.

Jason Sorochinski, 31, Gina Sorochinski, 33, and Teri Macinskinic, 19 are accused.

Police say the counterfeit cash was of “poor quality”, and they are encouraging businesses to educate employees on how to spot it.
