Applications open for Neighbour Day

It’s time to start planning for the biggest block party ever.

Saturday, June 18 is Neighbour Day in Calgary.

City Spokesperson Eric Michalko says there are many ways to celebrate.

“A lot of people do front yard barbecues, rent out the park and have a pick up soccer game, do a community clean up, they’ll have a picnic — it’s really wide open and it’s really just to get out, meet your neighbors and celebrate our really strong community spirit,” he said.

The deadline to apply for a free permit to close a street for a Neighbour Day event or book a space in a city park is May 27.
