Expect a firestorm of discussion about Mayor Naheed Nenshi and Uber Monday at city council.
Counc. Ward Sutherland has filed a complaint with Calgary’s ethics commissioner, following the release of a video that shows the mayor ranting about the ride-sharing service.
Unbeknownst to him, Nenshi was broadcast on Periscope telling a Lyft driver in Boston, the city found violent criminals and sex offenders to test out Uber’s background checks and they passed.
Nenshi issued an apology for the comments Saturday evening, saying in fact, he knows nothing about sex offenders getting through.
Sutherland isn’t satisfied — he says an investigation is warranted.
