Alberta Conservatives meet to unite the right

More than 400 conservatives from across Alberta met in Red Deer on Saturday to try and unite the right before the next election.

Party faithful from the Progressive Conservative Party and Wildrose Party had a day of discussions to try to plan a way forward and defeat the NDP in the next election.

The leaders of the two conservative party’s in the province, Brain Jean of the Wildrose Party and Ric McIver of the Progressive Conservatives were no shows.

Prem Singh, the co-founder of ‘Alberta Can’t Wait’ told 660 NEWS, “I am extremely pleased with the turnout today. It was mentioned at our meeting that it’s time to tear down the walls between us and we need to come together.”

Singh added, “95 per cent of the participants at Saturday’s meeting voted to merge the two party’s under a new name, rather than use Wildrose, Progressive Conservative or maintain the status quo.”

The unite the right movement plans to meet again in the future.
