Two-year-old boy missing in BC campground

Search and Rescue Teams are scouring the woods in a southeastern BC park for a missing toddler.

BC Mounties say two year old  Issac Leuenberger was last seen at about 7 p.m. Saturday in Premier Lake Provincial Campground, about 70 kilometres north of Cranbrook near the Alberta and B.C. border.

They say he was out for a walk with his mother and two siblings when the family noticed he was no longer with them.

Cpl. Chris Newell with Kimberley RCMP tells 660 NEWS, crews have been searching since they got the call Friday night.

“Search and rescue has been out here all night, along with our police dog. This morning we’ve got upwards of 70 search and rescue volunteers, two helicopters, some dogs and we’re combing the area extensively to try to find this young boy,” he said.

He adds, temperatures did drop to around minus two at the campground last night but they are hoping for the best.

The boy is described as about two-and-a-half feet tall, 35 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes.

He was wearing grey sweat pants, an orange and white plaid shirt and blue Thomas the Tank running shoes.
