Calgary is taking in more evacuees of the fire.
A reception centre has been set up at the residence tower at SAIT.
The city says evacuees can also reserve a room at one of Calgary’s local hotels.
The city has compiled a list of those, and availability is subject to change without warning.
Evacuees considering one particular hotel are encouraged to contact that hotel directly.
A local mosque in Calgary is also opening its doors.
Riyaz Khawaja is with the Hussaini Association and says as Muslims, it’s their responsibility to help anyone in need.
“During this devastating situation in Fort Mac we have opened the mosque and it’s available for any needy whose affected by these fires — they’re welcome,” he said.
He adds volunteers are ready to help.
