The city’s fire chief wants to clarify the situation around fire bans.
Steve Dongworth reiterated Calgary is not under a fire ban.
“It was messaged last week that there is a province-wide fire ban, which many people take to mean that the City of Calgary has a fire ban, and I just to clarify that is not the case,” Dongworth asserted. “The province-wide fire ban applies to areas the province controls, mainly forestry areas. It doesn’t apply to towns and cities and municipalities.”
Dongworth said that a fire safety advisory is appropriate for now, and is confident a full out fire ban isn’t needed.
