A CN train has derailed in a small community east of Edmonton, and one person has been airlifted to hospital.
RCMP say a moving train collided with a fluid hauler truck at the Highway 893 road crossing on the west side of Islay, causing the truck to hit another truck.
A third fluid hauler truck also collided with the train and came to rest in a ditch.
Two drivers received minor injuries, while a third was transported to hospital with serious injuries.
Several cars have jumped the tracks and are blocking the roadway, but Mounties say they were empty and no hazardous goods were spilled.
The route is closed between Highway 16 and Township Road 512.
CN says it has sent crews to the scene.
Islay is about a half hour northwest of Lloydminster.
