Canadians will be getting key tags in the mail from the War Amps starting this week.
This year marks the 70th anniversary for the fundraising service.
Spokesman James Jordan told 660 NEWS that since it started, they’ve returned 1.5 million sets of lost keys.
“I really truly believe that the service is even more vital than ever due to the high replacement cost of electronic car keys and remote devices,” Jordan said. “I know with my key, if I had to replace it, it’d be about $200-$300. “So, it’s saved a lot of people getting their keys returned in the mail.”
The key tag service was launched in 1946 so that returning war amputees could not only work for competitive wages, but also provide a service to Canadians that would generate funds for the association’s many programs.
The key tag service continues to employ amputees and people with disabilities.
