The province is providing housing support for Fort McMurray evacuees.
The assistance is for people who don’t have insurance or not enough insurance to pay for temporary accommodation.
The benefit covers rent, damage deposit, and utilities for up to 90 days after the evacuation.
It could also be used for a hotel room while evacuees are looking for short term housing.
To be eligible, one must be over the age of 18 and only one adult can apply per household.
The money must also be used for accommodations in Alberta.
Income is not used to determine eligibility for the Wildfire Evacuee Transitional Accommodation Benefit.
Eligible evacuees can contact 310-4455 for information and apply in person at Alberta Works Offices throughout the province.
