Calgarians thinking of heading out of town this long weekend may want to reconsider.
A snow fall warning has been issued for Airdrie, Cochrane, Olds, Sundre, Banff National Park, Kananaskis, and Canmore.
A total of 10 to 20 cm of snow is expected to fall in those areas, beginning with heavy rain Saturday evening then switching to snow.
Heavy wet snow is expected to continue through the morning on Sunday before tapering off in the late afternoon.
Depending on how quickly conditions change, warnings may be expanded eastwards as the weather system develops.
The heavy wet snow could also cause tree branches to break, possibly causing damage to cars parked on the street.
