The results of a Abacus poll suggests the elbowing in the House of Commons last week isn’t bringing down support for Justin Trudeau.
The only people who seem to think less of Justin Trudeau after he bumped into NDP MP Ruth Ellen Brosseau in the House of Commons are Conservative voters who aren’t likely to support him anyway.
Other than that, most people say it had no impact on their view of the PM. A few are actually impressed with what took place last week.
While Trudeau doesn’t seem to have taken a hit politically or personally, Abacus will continue tracking the issue to see if there are any lingering effects.
RESULTS:
• The broad majority of those surveyed (71 per cent) said it had no impact on their view of Mr. Trudeau, 23 per cent said it made them feel worse about him; 6 per cent better.
• There was no significant difference between women and men. 22 per cent of women said they had a more negative view of Mr. Trudeau while 24 per cent of men felt the same way.
• Most (49 per cent) of the 23 per cent who said it darkened their view of Mr. Trudeau said they voted CPC last fall.
• Among those who voted NDP in the fall, 71 per cent said it had no impact on their views of Mr. Trudeau.
• Among uncommitted but accessible Liberal voters, 78 per cent said it had no impact on their views of Mr. Trudeau, 17 per cent said it made them feel worse, 6 per cent better.
• Among Liberal voters in October 2015, 11 per cent said their impression of Mr. Trudeau got worse, 81 per cent said it had no impact, and 8 per cent said it got better.
