Made in Calgary: An Exploration of Art from the 1960s to the 2000s celebrates over 50 years of art history in the city, from its humble rural beginnings to the bustling cosmopolitan centre we know today.
The book is being launched Wednesday night at the Glenbow Museum and coincides with the museum’s 50th anniversary.
Manager of marketing Jenny Conway Fisher explained to 660 NEWS how they chose which art to include.
“Of course we couldn’t possibly mention every single artist that has made work here in the city, but it was about the people that have been influencers and who have been community members and who have changed the way art has been made in the city.”
The work explores works of art by over 200 Calgary artists.
The free event begins at 7:00 p.m. and includes refreshments and live music by local musician Evan Freeman.
