Fildebrandt returns to legislature after suspension

A Wildrose member suspended over comments on social media has taken his seat again in the legislature.
Finance Critic Derek Fildebrandt says the suspension was a difficult situation for everyone.
“When you go through a family dispute like this, there’s always going to be hurt feelings, and I’m sitting down with people talking one-on-one, face-to-face, and I think at the end of the day we’re all going to come out of this stronger as a party, stronger as a caucus and ready to go forward.”
Also, to help avoid similar incidents in the future, Fildebrandt has hired a social media manager.
“That’s not going to mean I’m not directly communicating with Albertans, it’s just going to mean I’m going to have some help with the volume of stuff that’s being received, and perhaps like Don Cherry a 30 second delay before hitting send.”
Fildebrandt was suspended last week for endorsing a homophobic online comment about Ontario Premier Kathleen Wynne.
Fildebrandt apologized for it and says he misread the original remark.
