Police shut down suspected re-processing fentanyl lab

As the drug fentanyl kills dozens of Albertans each month, a startling discovery has been made in a southeast Calgary home.
Police have found a suspected fentanyl re-processing lab in the home on Autumn Terrace, after getting a tip from the landlord.
One man who lives nearby says it was a total surprise, as he didn’t notice anything strange going on.
“It sucks to have that kind of presence in your community,” one resident told 660 NEWS. “It’s definitely a very family community. It’s lousy to hear.”
Police say the home does not pose a public safety risk to neighbours.
In the first three months of 2016, there were 69 fentanyl-related deaths in Alberta, on top of the 274 last year. Fentanyl, an opioid much more powerful than heroin, has created a health crisis across North America, and last week was linked to the death of music icon Prince.
