River levels are average or below around Alberta

The province says levels on rivers across Alberta are at average or slightly below for this time of year.

This is because of warmer temperatures combined with an early snowpack melt and precipitation amounts.

Flooding is still on many people’s minds as it rocked southern Alberta back in 2013, destroying homes and businesses, causing billions of dollars in damage.

The province says conditions can change in a heart-beat, and it has launched a website and an app so that people can keep on top of the information.

‘The Alberta Rivers’ app can send push notifications to your smartphone to update anything that happens.
