A special event is happening at Mountain View Memorial Gardens Thursday: the 21st annual Duck Release Party.
More than two decades ago, Mountain View started giving ducklings to schools to care for and watch grow.
Manager Les McMahon says, approximately 400 students from six area schools will release the ducks onto the cemetery grounds.
“There’s nothing else going on but this particular activity, so nobody will take offence to it whatsoever,” he said. “The kids have a wonderful time. We play some games, play a lot of music, do a little bit of dancing, we’ve got a mascot and then of course the ducks go into the pond and the kids have a wonderful time watching those ducks that they raised splash around.”
The Duck Party starts at 11 a.m.
