Man facing 164 charges related to vehicle consignment fraud

A Calgary man is facing 164 charges, in a vehicle consignment fraud investigation.
Between July 16, 2011 and August 31, 2014, 94 people brought 116 vehicles to an auto consigning company called TREADZ Auto Group Inc.
Police say TREADZ told the owners they would help sell their vehicles but they never received any compensation.
In some cases, the company also allegedly failed to pay off liens associated to the vehicles.
It’s believed the losses could be as high as $1.8 million.
Investigators also claim the company used some of the cars to take out a credit card loan, which was allegedly never paid back.
The total loss for vehicle owners and the credit card company was $2.2-million.
Sean Patrick O’Brien, 47, will appear in court July 15.
