Here’s something to keep in mind when you hit the road: summer is the worst time of the year for collisions.
Allstate Insurance says in Alberta they see the highest number of claims in August.
Manager Anthony Chan says speed is a major contributor.
“The main thing in the summer is just — it’s ’cause it’s unlike winter, it’s the opposite. The roads are a lot more clear, maybe people are more confident driving a lot more faster, speed is a big factor in a lot of these collisions and also because of the speed, the severity is a lot more bigger too,” he said.
Since a lot of people head out of town on Fridays, that’s the day of the week when the most insurance claims are submitted during the summer months.
