Calgary woman’s tattoo screams local pride

It’s a tattoo you certainly can’t miss and on Thursday night it was drawing it’s fair share of online social media attention.

Calgary woman Erica Veresh used her to Twitter account to show off her tattoo with the caption “Love me some Calgary Stampede time”.

It was something she first did two years ago after she and an artist came up with the local design.

The tattoo streches up the side of her and features the downtown core, the Calgary Tower can be seen, also the “Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.”

She says after so much time later, she still has no regrets.

“It kind of just came together piece by piece, skylines, the Calgary Stampede,” she said. “It kind of has everything that I would have wanted in it. Most of the time it’s covered but those who have seen it, they love it.”

“One girl I was in Arizona at a swiming pool and asked what I had there, she saw it and asked what I had and then we had a conversation about Calgary, and how 1912 was the first Calgary Stampede.”

Veresh isn’t new to ink, she has five tattoos but this one is by far the biggest.

“I absolutely love it and would like to add to it even one day with more cool things Calgary might have in the future,” said Veresh. “I’d like to add a bit more landmarks, I’ve added a Ranchmens’ R to it. I know there’s mountains there but maybe a lake or something like that.”
