Fire crews are mopping up after a blaze broke out in a home in the southwest community of Kingsland.
The Calgary Fire Department responded to a house in the 7300 block of Elbow Drive around 5:30 Wednesday afternoon.
Battalion Chief John Cherweniuk says it appears the fire started in the attic.
“I would say there is minor to moderate damage, the crews had to open up the roof a bit and open up the ceiling in the kitchen to ensure that fire was out so it did create a little damage to the residence,” Cherweniuk said.
Leda, who was in the area at the time of the fire, saw emergency crews arrive on scene.
“There must have been at least eight trucks and ambulances, a lot of activity, we saw the smoke coming out of the roof and we went hopefully there is no one in there that is injured.” Leda said.
One man in his 30’s was home at the time of the fire but he escaped without injury.
