New eye care campaign encourages regular check-ups

There’s a new campaign urging Alberta, other provinces, and the federal government not to put cost savings before eye health.
A survey by The International Federation on ageing shows nine in 10 Canadians agree that patients suffer when treatment decision are influenced by drug costs.
Secretary General Dr. Jane Barratt has a message for the Alberta government.
“(It’s) very clear, treatment choices must be based on scientific evidence and not on only cost,” Barratt said.
The Eye See You campaign also urges everyone, especially those over 45 years old, to get regular check-ups.
It’s estimated more than 50,000 Canadians lose their sight every year.
