There will be a different kind of performance today and tomorrow in downtown Calgary.
The Centre for Global Community–Humainologie produced a flashmob called “De-Vices” which highlights society’s obsessions with devices.
They say studies show that the mere presence of a cell phone nearby can reduce the experience of a connection with our family and friends.
Performer Amy Hintz says on breaks while rehearsing for the flashmob, she would reach for her phone and think about why she isn’t focusing on the great people she’s with.
You can catch the flashmob at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday on Stephen Ave. between Centre St. and 1 St. S.W.
