No campsite booked for the long weekend?
Don’t despair! Did you know nearly two-thirds of sites at provincial parks are first-come first-serve?
Tim Chamberlain with Alberta Parks suggests when you should get their to snap up the best.
“Well, we would recommend if people can get a jumpstart on their long weekend and maybe get out on Friday, their chances of finding a first-come first-serve campsite will be much greater than if they wait and peel out on Saturday.”
There are still a few reservable spots available through the province’s online system, but you’d better get a move on.
Chamberlain also reminds people of the bear danger right now. Make sure you have the right equipment and knowledge of how to avoid, or deal with, a close encounter.
