A somber day for families in Lethbridge and area.
A six-year old girl was found unconscious in a water-filled dugout on a private property Monday evening.
EMS transported the female to Chinook Regional Hospital where despite all efforts by family and medical professionals the young girl died.
Police say her death does not appear to be suspicious.
An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday morning in Calgary.
Earlier in the day, an 18-year old man survived after nearly drowning in a provincial park north of the city.
Picture Butte RCMP was called to Park Lake Provincial Park just after 4 p.m. Monday afternoon.
People in the park discovered the unconscious man and began CPR while waiting for emergency crews.
RCMP says thanks to hard work from bystanders and medical personnel, they were able to regain a pulse.
He was then taken to Foothills Hospital by STARS Air Ambulance.
The cause of the near drowning is not known but officials believe alcohol did not play a factor.
