Busy long weekend for Cochrane RCMP

Cochrane RCMP had their hands full over the Heritage Day long weekend as they dealt with several crashes related to all the traffic heading west.

Around 200 complaints came in between Friday and Monday alone and they were called to 20 different collisions.

One collision involved a four vehicle pileup caused by tailgating.

Three people were taken to hospital, and some of the drivers were given tickets.

Cochrane Mounties also caught three drunk drivers and issued a 72 hours roadside suspension.

In just a single day, the traffic unit issued 36 violation tickets for a number of offences, including distracted driving.
