Expect McMahon to be multi-coloured as Riders visit Stamps

Some see Calgary as the “biggest city in Saskatchewan” with an estimated quarter-of-a-million ex-pat Saskatchewanites living here.

That makes Thursday night, “old home week” for many, as the Calgary Stampeders host the Saskatchewan Roughriders at McMahon Stadium.

It always looks like Christmas with all the green mixed in with the red when the Saskatchewan fans come here.

One fan said it’s a good chance to see his favourite team.

“There’s a handful of us, like myself, who will go back to Regina very regularly for games. But for the majority of people, it’s their only chance to see the Riders. They don’t travel to Edmonton or other centres or back to Regina. So this is their one chance or twice a year to see the Riders, so it’s special for that reason because it’s that one chance to reconnect with their roots,” he said.

The fan has a small group of 82 Riders friends who will stake claim at the stadium.
