Highwood River rafters warned about debris

We have heard a warning from the Calgary Fire Department about hidden hazards for rafters on the Bow River, but the same could apply to other rivers in Southern Alberta.
Calgarian Steve Emery tells 660 NEWS, he took a trip down the fast moving Highwood River over the weekend.
“Always stay to the right. There is a danger to the left half way down the river where it actually divides into three, because there are two islands in the middle. And if you go to the left, it’s very fast, deep, and there’s a lot of dead wood that goes across that section. So, right across the river it’s full of trees that have come down and debris,” he said.
Emery says he’s travelled down the Highwood River a number of times and always wears a life jacket.
