GlobalFest crowdfunding for next event

The final fireworks display for GlobalFest 2016 lit up the sky Saturday night, let’s hope it’s not the last time we see them.

Organizers have launched a crowdfunding campaign to raise $150,000 to help finance next year’s 15th anniversary.

“It certainly has been a challenge,” said Producer Ken Goosen. “Like the Stampede we were faced with all kinds of inclement weather. The forecasters were all over the map. We had to postpone two shows. What happens whenever we postpone a show is we lose about a third of our audience.”

He said it’s been a tough couple of years, but the community has always stepped up.

“We are a non-profit community organization and we rely on everybody’s support in various ways and the community has been there for us,” said Goosen.

Instead of cancelling future events, organizers are hoping the public will help refill their coffers.
